Big Game Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday will be here before you know it! Did you know that 8 million pounds of guacamole and 14,500 tons of chips are consumed on Super Bowl Sunday?

If you’re hosting a big game party this year, we’ve created a checklist of things you don’t want to forget!

1.       Food

We don’t count calories on Thanksgiving, birthdays or Super Bowl Sunday! The importance of food at any big game party is one thing both men and women can agree on this Sunday. We don’t want to tell you exactly what to make this Sunday, but you can’t go wrong with burgers, wings, ribs, chips, salsa, guacamole, drinks, shakes and desserts.

2.       Environment

Grab festive banners, cutlery and napkins to help your visitors feel the excitement of the big game. Don’t be afraid to use plastic, you’ll thank us when it’s time for cleanup. Decorations, along with a big screen TV and plenty of couch space will secure your spot as the big game destination for years to come.

Remember – Many people watch the big game for the commercials in between the game, so don’t forget to keep it quiet during commercial breaks. Last year, it was estimated that more than 10 million people tuned into the game for the advertisements! If you need to talk, take it to the kitchen.

3.       Gamesmanship

When your guests arrive, have each individual fill out a game prediction sheet. Ask them who they think will win and what the final score will be. At the conclusion of the game, award the winner of the competition with a silly prize or trophy!

The entrees and soups from Augason Farms will make a delicious spread that everyone will love. Plus, when you buy two soup or entrée items from Augason Farms, you’ll save $1 on shredded cheese! We all know that cheese is a key ingredient to any big game meal. Here are a few ways you can incorporate our soup and entrée products into your party:

Have a Soup-er Bowl Bar

Our yummy dry soup mixes will make everyone think you spent hours in the kitchen cooking, when all you had to do was add water and simmer for a few minutes. Your guests won’t know what to choose! Our Chicken Noodle Soup is a lighter option of noodles, vegetables and spices. All you need to do is set out yummy bread bowls and cheese for topping.

Our popular Cheesy Broccoli Soup is also a versatile classic! It is an amazing topping as a cheese sauce—just add less water and let it stand until thickened. Once ready, drizzle it over baked potatoes, add onion, spinach and cream cheese to top on toasted bread or add on chicken wings. Everyone loves some cheesy goodness.

Super Sloppy Joes

The Southwest Chili Mix has a classic sweet and spicy flavor and is the perfect base for delicious Sloppy Joes. Add water to the chili mix and stir to combine. Throw in some cooked ground beef or turkey and then simmer it all together. Pile the delicious mixture high on a hamburger bun and enjoy. The messier, the better!

Don’t Forget the Snacks!

If you’re more of a snacks-throughout-the-game type of person, our entrees and soups are perfect for a lot of big game favorites.

Sweet and Spicy Potato Skins

If you’re looking for a twist on a classic comfort food, Augason Farm’s Potato Gems Complete Mashed Potatoes are a great starting point for loaded mashed potatoes. After you’ve cooked the mashed potatoes, fold in bacon bits, our Southwest Chili and some green onions. You have a hearty and delicious meal that will give you plenty of energy to cheer your team to victory

Loaded Nachos

Nachos are synonymous with football food! After you’ve melted all your cheese on those chips, sprinkle tomatoes, green onions, and our Bacon Flavored Bits of top for a more filling and satisfying dish. Or, add our Southwest Chili Mix to your queso and drizzle it over our favorite chips. Ooey gooey nachos have never tasted so good.

Prepping for your big game party doesn’t mean you have to play benchwarmer in the kitchen while everyone else is enjoying the game. Augason Farm products can help you save time while creating delicious dishes that will leave you with the MVP award when the game is over.
