Get your grill on this weekend with a perfect burger

It’s finally starting to warm up and you know what that means– grilling season! When you’re craving a giant, home-made juicy hamburger, look no further than our meat department. Our ground beef is the best. If you’re grilling up some burgers this week, remember to stop by and use these handy grilling tips:

It doesn’t need to be lean
For a juicy hamburger, select a higher fat percentage in your meat. (Don’t be afraid, most of the fat cooks off onto the grill.) This will only help prevent you from having a dry hamburger patty.

Make a large patty
Don’t be afraid to create a large-and-in-charge hamburger patty. Hamburger will always shrink once fully cooked on the grill so be generous.

Use seasonings
Use plenty of salt and pepper, as well as a nice beef seasoning. If you’d like advice on a savory hamburger seasoning, be sure to talk with one of our friendly butchers. They know what’s best and can give you plenty of suggestions!

Only flip your burger once
A grill master knows that the best hamburgers are only flipped once. Flipping your burgers too much will result in a loss of juice.

Don’t press your burger
Never press your hamburger patty with your spatula. As you squish your patty, the delicious juices that help make your hamburger scrumptious are falling into the grill.

Use a meat thermometer
Once your meat thermometer reads 160 and meat juices are clear, you are safe to take your patty off the grill and enjoy them with your family.

BBQ Chicken Tacos

BBQ CHICKEN TACOS
Serves: 8 small tacos
Ingredients:

  • 2 cups shredded chicken (Rotisserie chicken from the deli can save time.)
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 16 white corn tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons (or more as needed) vegetable oil
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • Sea salt
  • 2 cups chopped romaine lettuce if desired
  • 1/2 cup Full Circle corn
  • 1/2 cup Full Circle black beans, drained and rinsed
  • Ranch dressing or other as desired
  • Lime wedges and cilantro if desired

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, toss shredded chicken with BBQ sauce to coat and set aside.
  2. Pour a 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a small skillet and heat on medium high heat. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of cheese, and top with another tortilla. Heat until the bottom of the tortilla is slightly toasted, and the cheese is melted, then flip and toast the other side. This usually only takes a minute per side. Remove the taco shell to a paper towel and sprinkle with sea salt. Repeat with remaining tortillas, adding more oil to the pan as needed. Be careful not to leave the oil in the pan unattended.
  3. Fill the taco shells with about 1/4 cup of the chicken, then top with lettuce, corn, black, beans, and cheese. Drizzle with ranch dressing. Add a squeeze of lime and sprinkle with cilantro if desired.

If your grill has been in the garage for the last few months and needs a little cleaning. Take a visit to this post and learn some tips for cleaning your grill.

Clean Your Grill Like a Pro

Spring and early summer are a great time to grill. Make sure your succulent steaks or killer kabobs come from a well-maintained grill by following these easy tips:

  1. Remove the grates and clean both sides with hot, soapy water.
  2. Remove and clean the metal barriers over the burners and below the grates to remove drippings, grease, and other debris.
  3. Brush the inside of the grill. Loosen and dispose of any debris. Remove stubborn stains with a steel wool pad.
  4. Turn on the burners and check the flame with the grates and barriers removed. If needed, turn off the burners and clean them with a pipe cleaner to remove any blockages that may prevent even flame distribution.
  5. Clean out or replace the drip pan.
  6. Wipe down the exterior of the grill.
  7. Replace each part and let smoke burn off any residue on high heat for 10 minutes (or until the smoke clears) before using the grill again.

Now that your grill is clean its ready to cook some delicious food. Check out these great grilling recipes.
