2018: A Year of Goals

Now that the holidays have come and gone, the kids are back in school and the house is somewhat back in order it is time to focus on the year ahead. January is a time for goal setting. What do you want to accomplish in 2018? Don’t start your new year by stressing yourself out with a long list of goals for the new year. Take your goals and divide them out by month. Make each month focused on a single goal or maybe even a few. We are here to help you get started with a few suggestions to make 2018 great.

January- Eat more fruits & vegetables– This is always on the top of everyone’s list, especially after enjoying the holiday treats. During the month of January make it a goal to fill half of your plate at every meal with fruits or vegetables.

February- Make someone happy: February is the month of love so what a perfect time to focus on spreading love, happiness and cheer. Plus there is an added bonus that when you cheer someone else up it is guaranteed to cheer you up as well 🙂

March- Unplug and unwind: Put the online connections away and focus on connecting with yourself and the people around you.

April- Move: The spring months are here so enjoy the weather, budding blooms and fresh air by getting out and moving. Enjoy a spring walk, challenge yourself on a jog or hop on the bike and ride off into the spring breeze.

May- Make breakfast important: Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day so make it great! Start every day with a simple bowl of whole grain cereal, whole wheat toast, yogurt or fresh fruit.

June- Learn something new: What is something you have always wanted to do? Play the piano,  learn a second language, run a marathon or cook a four-course meal. Whatever it is do it!

July- Drink more water:  The importance of drinking water is crucial but even more so in the warm summer months. Make it a goal this month to drink more water. Your body will thank you for it.

August- Don’t snooze your alarm: That snooze button can sometimes be your greatest enemy. Don’t let the snooze win!

September-Make yourself a priority: Someone wise once said “You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.” During September make yourself a priority by doing things that help you relax and slow down. Read a book, get a massage, go shopping or just enjoy some peace and quiet.

October- Sleep: A good nights rest is a recipe for success. Make sure you are getting the amount of sleep you need every night to ensure a productive day ahead.

November- Practice gratitude: November is the perfect month to focus on gratitude. As the holidays approach take the time to look around you and notice all the things you have to be grateful for. Write them down! It will be a great list to look at during rough times.

December- Spend time with loved ones: Make time to be with your family and friends. Make the people a priority who make you a priority. There is no better way to spend the closing month of the year than with the people you love.
