Host a blueberry brunch

Brunch is the perfect way to host a party.  Fun, easy and without all the stress that comes with a dinner party. While brunch should offer a variety of foods, having a theme helps bolster the feeling of a well-planned brunch. The theme and superstar of our brunch is the blueberry. Not only does a blueberry brunch sound catchy, but focusing on one food item makes all your recipes come together. Here are three different ways to incorporate blueberries into hosting the perfect brunch.

Fresh: Every brunch should offer fresh fruit. It’s pleasing to the eye, delicious and offers guests a healthy option. When creating a fresh fruit platter try to pick several different colors and flavors. Pineapple and green grapes pair perfectly with blueberries and strawberries. Another great way to serve fresh fruit is by having a “make-your-own” parfait or crepe station where guests can add fresh fruit and other toppings to their creations.

Baked:  Every brunch needs baked goods and blueberries are the perfect fruit to bake. Cooking blueberries enhances their flavor. Try a classic blueberry muffin recipe or a baked berry oatmeal muffin. If you’re feeling especially decadent try blueberry bread pudding. Incorporating fresh fruit into baked goods keeps them from feeling too heavy. If making baked goods, try making mini sizes, mini muffins aren’t only cute but will allow guests to try more things without getting too full.

Décor: Fruit doesn’t just have to be for food, use it as a way to decorate. Pineapples, limes and lemons make for beautiful decorations. Blueberries are perfect for garnishing drinks, cakes, tarts and more. Try freezing blueberries in ice cube trays and using for iced teas and juices.
